Meet Jeremy, our new Omaha reporter

Thanks to donors like you, the Flatwater Free Press is once again growing — this time in a way that expands our work here in the Omaha metro.

Let me introduce you to Jeremy Turley, who starts as our new Omaha reporter this week. Jeremy comes to FFP from Forum News Service in Bismarck, North Dakota, where he’s been covering state politics, policy and the oil industry.

Jeremy grew up in Highland Park, a suburb of Chicago, and is a journalism graduate of the University of Missouri at Columbia (but this UNL grad doesn’t hold it against him). He speaks English and Spanish. We think he’ll fit right in here in Omaha.

Jeremy is going to build on the kinds of stories that FFP has already done in Omaha. He’ll work with the rest of our newsroom to do investigations, like our data-intensive dive into Omaha’s fastest growing landlord and the discovery that very few North Omaha kids attend this North Omaha summer camp. He’ll also deliver inspiring stories about the people that make Omaha one-of-a-kind, like award-winning chef David Utterback.

Judging by the initial story and projects list we put together, Jeremy will soon be producing more stories that make a real difference in Omaha.

Join me in welcoming Jeremy! You can do so by sending your Omaha-area story ideas to [email protected].

Thank you,

—Matthew Hansen, Executive Editor
